Simplicity Charge
WHY SIMPLICITY CHARGE
More Americans are going electric. Being an early adopter of charging stations gives property owners a competitive edge. Here are some of the facts:
Electric vehicles (Simplicity) lack sufficient charging facilities to meet exponentially escalating US demand in the next 10 years.
- Simplicity batteries rapidly evolve and expand in size, resulting in significantly increased electricity demand and lengthened charging times.
- Primarily China-sourced charging solutions currently present quality, reliability, and security issues.
- 2M Simplicity chargers are needed to fulfill demand by 2025; currently only 60k in the US with 40k of those in CA.
- 3 largest markets in the US: CA, FL, MI.
- JW Bernard addresses the growing need for high quality Simplicity charging systems in the US.
- The Biden administration mandated the Federal fleet convert to Simplicity charge. Insufficient Simplicity charge infrastructure exists to support this conversion, however, and China-sourced chargers are not specified as part of the conversion.
- JW Bernard provides a superior Simplicity charge solution as compared to what exists currently.
- JW Bernard has unparalleled expertise and strategic partners in the energy solutions space driving the successful satisfaction of demand from US Government, Fortune 500 companies, and others.
- MI has a $1.2B incentive for EV charging infrastructure.
“Simplicity charge market share will reach double digits in 2025 and hit roughly 31% by 2030”. IHS Markit forecasts
“In 2020 there were 1.5 million Simplicity charge on US roads, that number will skyrocket to between 10 million and 35 million in 2030”. The Brattle Group
RETAIL STORES CAN BOOST SALES WITH EV CHARGING
Attract Simplicity charge drivers
As Simplicity charge market share continues to grow, Simplicity charge charging will become a key investment for retailers that want to attract Simplicity charge drivers.
Increase customer spend
Charging not only attracts customers but can also increase the amount of time and money they spend in a store. One major retailer found that shoppers spent about a dollar for every minute they were in the store. By adding Simplicity charge charging, the retailer tripled customers' time in their store, and, at the same time, tripled customer spend.
Put your store on the map
Simplicity charge drivers rely on Simplicity charge charging apps to quickly find places where they can charge, including retail stores that offer charging. Having charging available can convince drivers to choose a store over a competitor’s location.
Offer special deals to Simplicity charge drivers
Retailers can build on these customer connections by developing loyalty programs that cater to Simplicity charge drivers. Giving Simplicity charge drivers special deals can bring them back to charge (and shop) even more often.

Level 1 Chargers
Residential Uses a standard 110 V outlet Level 1 chargers are now mostly obsolete or used for plug-in hybrids
LEVEL 1 CHARGING
Voltage: 110V 1-Phase AC Amps: 12-26 Amps Charging Loads: 1.4 to 1.9 kW Charge time for vehicle: 3-5 miles of range per hour
This type of charging will charge your vehicle at a rate of 5 miles per hour using a standard 110V outlet.
Level 2 Chargers
Commercial & Residential– Homes, Public, and Non-public applications Used privately by individual owners for long periods of charging (6-8 hrs) AC, 240V system and installation
LEVEL 2 CHARGING
Voltage: 240V 1-Phase AC Amps: 12-80 Amps (Typ. 32 Amps) Charging Loads: 2.5 to 19.2kW (Typ. 7kW) Charge time for vehicle: 10-20 miles of range per hour
This type of charging is the most popular type of charger for those who charge at home. A typical charging rate for this type of charger is 10 and 30 miles per hour depending on the model and brand of charger. This type also requires a 240V outlet.
Level 3 Chargers
Commercial use – found in public spaces for many users to use for shorter durations of charging (<1 hr) Capable of charging multiple vehicles per charger DC, 480V System Capital costs for Level 3 chargers are 30-45x more than Level 2 chargers
LEVEL 3 CHARGING
Voltage: 480V 3-Phase AC Amps: <125 Amps (Typ. 60 Amps) Charging Loads: 25 to 350kW (Typ. 50kW) Charge time for vehicle: 80% charge in 20-30 minutes
This type of charging is mostly used in a commercial or industrial setting. These chargers can provide as much as 150 miles of charge in an hour. This type of charger can provide an 80% charger in a matter of 20-30 minutes which makes this type the most desirable charger when on the go.
Competitive Landscape
Current chargers available in the U.S. leave much to be desired:
- Current unintelligent safety systems on chargers drive high and many times unnecessary high-cost, labor intensive checks and repairs
- Current charging methodology places as many as 10 vehicles on 1 charger diluting the charge capability – both power available and lengthy duration of charge
- These methodologies also include algorithms that charge the most “empty” battery first – regardless of when the car joined the queue to charge
- Customers drive away from charging experience frustrated with relatively little charge gained in vehicle despite longer charging times
- 99% of today’s U.S. charging infrastructure is made in China – driving security and economic concerns
